Upper Canada College’s varsity track and field team qualified 29 members for this week’s Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations Metro Regionals at Scarborough’s Birchmount Stadium after strong performances in last week’s Conference of Independent Schools Athletics Association (CISAA) championships at the same venue.
UCC’s junior boys claimed the CISAA title for their division. They were led by Juan David Guerra, who won the discus and javelin events. Toby Henderson was first in the high jump and Jordan Kim was the fastest in the 100-metre low hurdles.
Andrew O’Reilly won the senior boys 1,500-metre and 3,000-metre races. Calvin Jeffrey was first in the senior boys triple jump. Luke Stevens was the senior boys javelin champion.
UCC’s midget four-by-100-metre relay team bested all of its competitors.
