Step 1 – Online Application & Required Documents

The deadline to apply is December 1, 2017. The application fee schedule is as follows:

To submit your online application, create an account through our new Online Application portal. Even previous applicants need to create a new account. Please ensure that you create the account using the candidate’s legal name as it appears on his birth certificate or passport.

Once you’ve registered, you can start filling out the form, save your work and return to complete and submit it at any time. Please ensure that all form fields are complete before submitting as a form cannot be edited once submitted.

Please allow two days for processing the application form. Once your form has been processed, you can return to upload PDF copies of the following documents:

Applicants are required to submit these documents by December 1, 2017. All applicants will also need to send a current school report as soon as it becomes available.

Please do not submit any additional documents unless requested.

Step 2 – Financial Assistance

UCC committed over $5 million in financial assistance for the 2017-2018 year to ensure the college remains affordable for our families. Assistance is available starting in Year 5, so we encourage all interested applicants to Year 5 and above to apply. While a small percentage of financial assistance is dedicated to one-time merit-based Entrance Scholarships, 98.5 per cent of financial assistance is awarded on the basis of family need as established by a third-party organization, Apple Financial Services. Financial assistance decisions are separate from admission decisions. Awards range from $5,000 to full tuition. The deadline to apply for financial assistance is December 31, 2017. Visit Affording UCC to learn more and apply.

Step 3 – Entrance Test / Assessment

Year 5 and 6 applicants are required to write an entrance test at UCC during one of the following sessions:
Session 1: 9-11 a.m. on January 20, 2018
Session 2: 1-3 p.m. on January 20, 2018
Session 3: 1-3 p.m. on January 27, 2018
We will confirm your chosen session closer to the test date. The tests are age-appropriate and evaluate literacy and numeracy skills, followed by a creative and social skills activity. We’ve prepared short practice tests so that families can get a sense of the content and format of their respective tests.

Step 4 – Interview

Upon receipt of all required documents, selected candidates will be contacted to arrange an interview. Interviews take place from October through mid-February. Please note that in some cases interviews will not be scheduled until test results have been received.

The interview is about 45 minutes in total. Before spending time with the applicant, one of our Admission Counselors will meet briefly with parents. While this is happening, the applicant will be asked to complete a short writing sample. The writing exercise has two purposes: it is intended to give the applicant an opportunity to express himself creatively, and to give us a snapshot of his ability to express himself thoughtfully and creatively. The writing sample is not graded.

After the Admission Counselor has met with the parents, he/she will interview the applicant. During the applicant interview, the student will be asked to read a short piece while the remainder of the time is a relaxed conversation where he is encouraged to share information about himself and get to know us. The interview is meant to give insight into the applicant and family’s personalities, interests and values. It is also an opportunity for parents to gain a deeper insight into who we are and what we do at UCC.

We require at least one parent to participate in the interview process.

Step 5 – Decisions

Admission decisions will be sent on February 23, 2018.
